"Maxine" 10" x 10" oil on linen

I've been commissioned to do a few pet portraits over the last year. This is one I just painted for myself of my dog, Maxine. She was a real sweetie! My June 2010 post shows another "Max" I painted for a friend from Facebook. I will soon post the third of an Australian Shepherd. I do work from photographs.

Hi Kathryn, I've often wondered what it would be like to have someone post while I was looking at their blog, then there it was...MAXINE...how cool was that.

I've been wandering your paintings and I'm overwhelmed and inspired...I've lacked motivation for so long, I know that all it takes is the right moment to get me started again.

I've often regretted not pursuing a career in art, but my daughter interfered with that, then being a single mom clinched the deal...no money!

I dabble here and there when I have the time, but I find that too many part time jobs interfere with those inspirational moments...some day the time will be right, but in the meantime, I'll spend a spare moment enjoying your work...LOVE the bottle with the pine branch...love your style!

I'll be back...

Yay! Maxine! I see this painting is based on her during her "chunky" phase.
